An e-invoice (electronic invoice) is a digital invoice that is created, sent and received in a structured electronic format. It contains the same information as a paper invoice, but is transmitted and processed electronically to automate and streamline the exchange of invoice information.
An e-invoice is created in a structured data format, such as XML or EDIFACT, and sent to the recipient via electronic channels. The recipient can automatically read and process the invoice into their system. This process minimizes manual intervention, reduces errors, speeds up processing, and enables seamless integration with accounting and ERP systems.
